After several years of working with the foster care system and making frequent court appearances on behalf of children, Beverly Oxley, along with several other professionals, recognized a critical need for supervised family visitation for foster children. Later, they expanded their vision to families in litigation, so that the judge could order children to be seen in a safe, therapeutic environment – not at a fast food restaurant.
Just as Noah was inspired to build the original ark to preserve the human race, Beverly felt inspired to build a facility to save and preserve families.
In January, 2014, the vision of The Ark Family Preservation Center became a reality with an IRS full approval for a 501(c)3 corporation.
Since then, the Ark has been providing supervised visits for families in need. Referrals come from DFCS as well as the court system. Individuals can also refer themselves if services are needed.
We have a sliding fee schedule for those that are court-ordered. Services for foster children are provided free of charge through the generous donations of Ark supporters.
In 2019 the Ark developed a beautiful therapeutic playground for families to enjoy the outdoor spaces when they spend time together.
