The Ark was founded to support families through tough times. We are not here to judge. We are here to help … kids, parents, grandparents. Our goal is to preserve the family. How do we do that?
Families fractured by trauma and hardship need a safe family visitation environment. The Ark Family Preservation Center provides that safe, healthy, and nurturing environment so children and their parents/family can share time together without the stressful conflicts or dangers that may have been part of their past.
We believe that most parents want to be good parents but may not know how. Parenting is tough and kids don’t come with a “how to” booklet.
So, The Ark staff provides training for parenting skills, anger management, and other skills that are needed for them to become more effective parents. We provide practical training and education to parents and use therapeutic interventions to heal, equip, and empower families who have been broken.
The end result of all our efforts? Hope is restored! True, the world may be broken, but hope provides the energy we need to carry on, even with joy. Especially with joy! Hope is not crazy or dim-witted. It is a choice to see the virtuousness in life – and in the clients we serve.
Children embrace hope every time they come to The Ark to visit their biological relatives. Why shouldn’t we?
Established in 2014, The Ark has been providing services to children in foster care and those who have been court-ordered for supervised visitation in northeast Georgia. That’s what we do. And the results have been excellent. More than half of our clients regain custody of their children within a year. For other families, the children may be adopted into stable, nurturing families. Either way, children are the benefactors. Our goal is for children to live in families that are not at war, but in one where peace reigns.
